Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know before your first visit — or your fiftieth.
Appointments & Booking
Do I need an appointment, or can I walk in?
All services are by appointment only. The studio is private and home-based, so walk-ins aren't available. You can book online through our website, or call or WhatsApp 587-719-2859 to arrange a time that works for you.
Can I bring a friend to my appointment?
Yes — there's a dedicated cozy waiting area in the studio, right outside the private waxing room. Your friend is welcome to relax there during your appointment with comfortable seating, water, and snacks. The waxing room itself is private, so they won't come in with you. If your friend also needs a service, it's best if they book their own appointment so they don't have to wait.
How do I pay?
Credit card, debit card, cash, and e-Transfer are all accepted.
Location & Studio
Where exactly is the studio?
The studio is at 273 Bridleridge View SW, Calgary, AB — in the Bridlewood neighbourhood in SW Calgary. It's a legal basement suite with its own separate entrance, so you arrive and leave without walking through the main home. Street parking is available. After you book, Manindar will send you exact directions.
What are your hours?
The studio is open every day — Monday through Sunday — from 9:00 AM to 8:30 PM Calgary time (MST/MDT). All appointments must be booked in advance.
Is this really a women-only studio?
Yes, completely. Marwah Thread and Wax Studio serves women only. Both the clients and the esthetician are women. The studio was designed this way intentionally — it's a private, comfortable space where every client can feel fully at ease.
Is the studio licensed?
Yes. Manindar Mrwah is a licensed esthetician and holds all required professional licenses from the City of Calgary and Alberta Health Services. The studio meets all AHS standards for hygiene and safety. Every tool is clean, every surface is sanitized between clients, and all wax applicators are single-use — no double-dipping, ever.
Services
What's the difference between threading and waxing for eyebrows?
Both methods remove hair at the root, but they work differently. Threading uses a twisted cotton thread rolled across the skin in a precise motion — no chemicals, no heat, nothing on the skin except the thread itself. Waxing uses warm wax applied and then removed quickly.
Threading tends to be better for fine, precise brow shaping and is generally gentler on sensitive or acne-prone skin. If you're using prescription topicals like retinol or tretinoin, threading is usually the safer choice when waxing isn't recommended. Both options are available at Marwah Thread and Wax Studio — Manindar will help you choose what's best for your skin and hair type.
How long does threading last?
Threading removes hair from the root, so results typically last two to four weeks depending on your growth cycle. Most clients come in every three to four weeks. With regular threading, many clients find their hair grows back finer and softer over time.
Is Brazilian waxing available?
Yes. Brazilian waxing is offered in a private, women-only treatment room with experienced practitioner Manindar. For pricing and to book, see the Bikini and Leg Waxing section on our services page.
